Chris Guillebeau and Gwen Bell

Posted on October 28th, 2009 by Clare Lancaster

Today I want to introduce you to two people that I’ve been following for a while. They’ve both inspired me and represent ideas that are close to my heart.

Chris Guillebeau and the Art of Non-Conformity

Chris is a writer and traveller – his blog is a place for people living their life according to what’s important to them.

The blog chronicles his journey to achieving a big goal – to travel to every country in the world before he turns 35.

Chris also offers practical advice and encouragement for anyone who isn’t content with a 9-5 existence.

His two free eBooks are well worth the read – A Brief Guide to World Domination and 279 Days to Overnight Success.

Gwen Bell

  1. Thanks so much, Claire! I’m flattered…. and it looks like you’re doing great stuff too. Good luck with your own world domination plans. :)

  2. Clare, hi! I love what you’re up to here & am honored to be included in your lineup of folks doing interesting stuff. Thank you for your continual stream of informational links on Twitter (and around the web) – would love to meet sometime in person & trade stories.

  3. Also, you asked who inspires me:

    are but 3…

  4. Clare,
I must say, it looks like you have an awesome thing here. I will definitely be exploring your site over the coming weeks. I am working to break out of the 9-5 game myself, so YOU would be an inspiration. And, actually, i found you via a tweet from @gwenbell. I consider her an inspiration too.

I would also include Leo Babauta of http://www.zenhabits.net a major inspiration as well as Gail Lynne Goodwin of http://www.inspiremetoday.com a significant person for daily inspiration.

All of this has helped me to try to get out of the rat race and my just recently launched blog is my means of achieving this. I am hoping to give others hope to follow their dreams, whatever they are, since so often we are told by friends or family that if we follow our hearts, we’ll end up in the poor house. Or that our dreams are simply silly, impractical or even too hard so we might as well just give up. Well, I disagree with those arguments wholeheartedly!! And, I hope to spread the word that our dreams are who we are and we should never give up on them!

So, my thanks to you for doing this and Gwen for sharing.

  5. Oh, what an excellent post – two of my favourite Tweeters!

Gwen is just adorable and Chris is one of the few A-listers who you can email/tweet/etc and actually get a thoughtful and relatively quick response.

Well done to all three of you.
