How to start and run your business, your way

Posted on November 24th, 2008 by Clare Lancaster

A couple of exciting things happened today:

1. I can *hopefully* mark “find a lawyer who understands the Internet to help with contracts” off my to do list!

2. I managed to spend a bit of time reading this gem of a business book called “The Boss of You“. It’s written by two female entrepreneurs from Vancouver, Canada. Lauren Bacon and Emira Mears run a successful web design agency called Raised Eyebrow.

If you dream about starting your own business and running it in a way that is uniquely yours, to achieve dreams that are uniquely yours, this is the book for you.

It’s not your typical “big business” book written for those who want a fast growing business or to conquer the world. It’s more about defining what success means for you, and going about achieving it in a style that suits you.

The book offers a guide to starting up with brilliant exercises, case studies and plenty of things to think about.

I’m about halfway through, but from what I’ve read so far (and the exercises I’ve done) I would absolutely recommend this book to women starting their own business.

Visit their blog or buy the book from Amazon.
