Kicking Wordpress Ass (or, how to install and customise Wordpress)

Posted on November 3rd, 2008 by Clare Lancaster

After eight years in the industry I really should have learnt by now how to set a blog up for myself. I blame the efficient IT departments that I’ve worked with in the past who’ve done it for me.

Thank god for the Internet (of course). I used Wordpress to create this blog and I found a brilliant tutorial to follow if you want to customise the design of your blog to suit your business/personality.

If you have HTML and CSS knowledge and have heard of PHP you’ll definitely be able to teach yourself using this and this.

If this is too web nerd for you, but you still want to set up a blog for yourself (or your business – which you should. Yes, it’s not really an option and many of you would already have this covered) check out these websites that can help – www.blogger.com or www.typepad.com.

  1. I’m stuck on the step 4- Open your browser and go to this address: http://localhost/. From the menu on the left column, choose your preferred language.
